The inaugural Vancouver eZ Publish user group gathering is approaching (it's this Thursday, November 1!), and we have an even 10 attendees so far. I figured I'd provide a few more details as to what's on the agenda (although mostly it's a free-for-all). And did we mention that's everyone's first beer is free?
Drawn by Social Signal's Rob Cottingham, Noise to Signal is a social-web comic so relevant and funny that you might just shoot eggnog out your nose.
As a sure sign that at least spambots have taken a liking to one's blog is the appearance of spam comments! It wasn't that bad -- when I walked in to the office this morning there were notifications for 5 spam comments. But the annoying, automated spam "efforts" will be curbed immediately on this site with the installation of a CAPTCHA extension.
As the Vancouver eZ Systems office, we would love to meet and chat with local eZ Publish users -- whether you are a one-person operation or part of a large organization. Got a project you want to share or with which you need help? Want to rant about what you dislike about eZ or CMS in general? We have started the Vancouver eZ Publish user group to bring together eZ Publish users to share experiences about the CMS and Open Source; provide support to each other; and simply hang out. Come relax with us after work for an hour or two on Thursday, November 1st for the group's first gathering!
Following steps similar to those in Paul Wilson's RSS import "how to" guide, we were able to quickly set up the syndication of the ez.no company news feed. This way, ezsystems.ca visitors can get a quick summary on the front page of what's new at eZ Systems in general, such as the much anticipated eZ Publish 4.0 release, which runs on PHP 5!
Numerous articles have been written on how to work on the design of an eZ Publish site, including detailed How to Skin an eZ Publish Now Site and the official Website Interface documentation. However, they do not mention the specific working environment -- that is, how to develop and test changes without breaking a live site. This article will show you how to set up an efficient environment to work on customizing eZ Publish, based on what we did for ezsystems.ca.
Calling all local eZ Publish users and developers! After a show-and-tell development on this website, we are excited to announce the official launch of ezsystems.ca!
