Google Analytics is the big dog when it comes to tracking site visitors. Installing it in eZ Publish is quite a simple task.
When the eZ Press (the book publication division of eZ Systems) produces a book, numerous people are involved in a large project that spans many months and contains a large number of interconnected tasks, many of them prerequisites for completing other tasks.
The "Group Writing Project: Time Management" blog post on the Inspiration Bit blog interested me, because a large part of our book publication process is about time management and coordinating tasks with resource scheduling. (I am the Manager of Knowledge Products at eZ Systems, and am responsible for the eZ Press division.) While I think Vivien will get many interesting posts on techniques and tools that individuals can use to manage their time, another important aspect of time management is how time is managed in large projects where multiple people are involved. This is a challenge because, in most cases, tasks are prerequisites for each other, and the timing of each individual task can affect the timing of the entire project, thus affecting the schedule of everyone involved.
Using our fellow eZ crew member Kristof Coomans' powercontent extension, we recently enhanced the blog commenting feature on ezsystems.ca. The powerful eZ Publish versioning system (see the documentation or an article about it) means that there was a "New comment" button on each blog post. However, we wanted to put the comment forms directly on the blog post pages. And while we were at it, we decided to make a few more minor tweaks to the blog...
Using the built-in eZ Publish RSS feature, the
RSS feed for this blog is now available!
As the company behind eZ Publish, we at eZ Systems have naturally been using our own software to power our main ez.no website since we started in 1999. Hey, we're eZ Publish experts! So when it came time to set up our North American presence here at ezsystems.ca, we figured we would take this opportunity to be a live example of what eZ Publish can do. We invite you to come along for the ride, which we will document every step of the way.
At the same time that we are building our eZ Systems North American site, we are also publishing a series of articles on the global eZ site about configuring eZ Publish. The first article in the series, written by our own Peter Keung, is called "How to Configure an eZ Publish Site", and describes how to tweak and customize a newly installed instance of eZ Publish.
